This is a dated record of material changes to PlainHazard’s data presentation, methodology, and editorial framing. It lists verified changes only; a source release or page update is not a real-time safety alert.

How this record works
We add an entry when a material correction, source-handling change, or methodology revision reaches the public site. We do not backfill an entry when there is no corroborating source or release record. To report a possible error, include the page URL, the figure or statement in question, and an official source in a message to our data-corrections contact channel.

Published a retained-release comparison for FEMA declarations
PlainHazard began retaining completed FEMA OpenFEMA snapshots and published a comparison of the two latest releases. The report identifies changes in declaration totals; it does not treat those changes as forecasts, current warnings, or a count of every damaging event.

Clarified the California state-page search and page label
The California state page was revised to name its subject as natural-disaster history and to lead with the FEMA declaration count it actually presents. This was a wording correction; it did not change the underlying federal records.

Published a national statistics report with source and citation context
A PlainHazard national report now separates FEMA declarations, NOAA storm events, and National Risk Index measures, with source links and a stable citation path. It is a derived presentation of the named public datasets, not an agency publication.

Clarified the methodology for federal-source and composite-risk claims
Methodology and risk-score explanations were revised to distinguish FEMA and NOAA measures from PlainHazard’s separately labelled composite tool. The change corrected the framing of those different measurement systems, not the agencies’ underlying records.

What is not a changelog entry
Routine page rendering, a source agency’s ordinary data availability, or an unverified reader report is not treated as a correction. Pages continue to show their own source scope and data window; use those labels with this record when interpreting a number.
