PlainHazard is published by PlainHazard and owned by Kiznis Studio. By using the site you accept these terms; they take nothing away from the rights your own law gives you.

What the site offers
A record of past storms and federal disaster declarations by county and state, drawn from NOAA and FEMA files, with derived counts, ranks and analyses. It reports what the files hold. It is not a forecast, a warning, an insurance or engineering assessment, or advice of any kind, and it is not affiliated with NOAA, FEMA or any other agency.
Accuracy
Figures are shown as the federal files report them, with each file's date and a link to the official search that confirms them. The files have gaps and errors of their own (see the methodology). Check the source before relying on a figure for a decision.
Reusing the data
The federal records are public. PlainHazard's derived tables on the data page are released under CC0 1.0. The page text, design and code are not part of that release; quote them with a link back.
Automated access
Polite crawling that respects robots.txt and a reasonable request rate is welcome. Do not try to get round security measures or load the site so heavily that it slows for readers; prefer the downloads for bulk use.
Advertising
Ads are served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no say over what is published. See privacy for what the ad tools store.
Liability
The site is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, Kiznis Studio is not liable for losses arising from use of the site or reliance on its figures. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
These terms are governed by the law of Lithuania, where Kiznis Studio is based. If you use the site as a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the consumer law of the country you live in, or your right to go to its courts.
