Corrections

Write to hello@plainhazard.com with the page address and what looks wrong. We check the page against the federal file. If PlainHazard got it wrong, we correct the page and log the correction below with its date.

What happens to a report

  1. We find the record in the federal file the page names.
  2. If our join, conversion or wording is wrong, we fix it at its cause, so every page built the same way is corrected too, and we add it to the log.
  3. If the federal file is wrong, we reply with where to report it (NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information for storm records, FEMA for declarations); the page follows the corrected file.

Storm Events coverage stated as 2015-2025Pages and answers that described NOAA storm coverage as 2015-2025 were replaced when the full record from 1950 was loaded; every page now states the years each hazard was fully recorded.
California state page labelThe California page was renamed to describe natural-disaster history and to lead with the FEMA declaration count it shows. The records did not change.
Federal-source and risk-score wordingThe methodology was clarified to keep FEMA declarations, NOAA storm records and FEMA's modeled risk index apart.
