The National Weather Service completed a storm survey and determined that a tornado occurred during the early morning hours on June 18, 2026 in Scott County and Jefferson County Indiana and then crossed the river into Trimble County Kentucky. The tornado was 1000 yards wide and 23.62 miles in length. Maximum winds were EF2 130 mph. The tornado exited Scott County and continued into western Jefferson County along Henry Road where the tornado gained size and strength. Several farms north of Henry Road had barns totally destroyed with extensive tree damage. Some residences also were completely demolished. Max sustained winds of EF2 120 mph occurred north of the Republican, Kent, and Hanover communities to the west of Madison. The tornado dropped over the cliff past state road 56 toward Clifty Creek Generating Station, where the tornado gained strength. …
